I started this blog for myself. I have recently gone through outpatient rehab for alcohol dependency, and decided to help my recovery by starting a blog about the things that support me most. Making the decision to attend outpatient rehab was one of the most difficult and most rewarding things I’ve done. I have experimented with trying to control my drinking for 20 some odd years, and I’ve tried various tactics for sobriety. What I learned in rehab, especially Dialectical Behavior Therapy, has been nothing short of priceless. I’m going to post the videos that struck home, the practices that have grounded me, and the lessons that have cemented the fact that I cannot drink like 87.5% of the rest of the population (and that’s ok).
I am a middle aged white woman with a family and a business. I don’t look like what society thinks someone dependent on alcohol looks like.
